I’m not saying that bipolar isn’t the most challenging, heart-wrenching, stare-into-the-abyss-and-scream mental illness there is, but I AM saying there’s a reason for it. And I will explain why in the following:
Bipolar disorder is, first, and foremost, a mood disorder. It affects our moods, and as Adyashanti, popular meditation and spiritual teacher, points out, our moods are ALWAYS connected to a thought. And a thought is formed in response to a stimuli, such as a stressful work event, public speech, or even as the result of not getting enough sleep. In addition, the thought that is formed is also a result of our conditioning.
So, research says that bipolar disorder manifests through trauma and in our genes. (Other manifestations are also possible). But at the end of the day, any mental illness is a result of not healing from the trauma, whether it be from past lives or this life.
